About EthioBazaar

A digital home for Ethiopian commerce and culture, worldwide.

EthioBazaar is a planned global marketplace connecting Ethiopian businesses, products, services, food, creators and communities with customers around the world. The Global Ethiopian Marketplace. Discover. Shop. Eat. Connect.

We are early, and we say so. Today EthioBazaar is a global waitlist and a research project. The marketplace itself is not live yet, and this page explains what we are building, in what order, and why the people who join first matter so much.

What we are building

A broad marketplace ecosystem, not a single app.

Food is where many people will meet EthioBazaar first, but the brand is not restricted to food. The plan covers everything Ethiopian communities buy, sell, cook, make and celebrate.

  • Food
  • Shopping
  • Fashion
  • Beauty
  • Home & culture
  • Services
  • Creators & content
  • Recipes
  • Community

EthioBazaar is not intended to be only

  • A restaurant delivery app
  • A food directory
  • An Ethiopian grocery store
  • A social network

It is designed as a marketplace ecosystem that stays flexible enough to support the categories we discover later, together with the community.

Where we are today

Phase 1: validation, not guesswork.

We are not building everything immediately. The waitlist is also our market research system: a landing page, a global waitlist, a smart survey, business recruitment and customer research in one.

Only after collecting enough evidence will we decide exactly what the first version of the marketplace contains and which cities it starts in. That is a deliberate choice: it keeps us honest and it keeps the first launch useful.

Global from day one

The data decides where we launch first.

The waitlist is not restricted to Ethiopia, Dubai, Washington DC, London or any single market. People from anywhere in the world can join, and every member tells us their country and city.

That lets us compare demand and supply at city level: how many people want Ethiopian restaurants, groceries, fashion or services in a place, and how many Ethiopian businesses already exist there. Where the two overlap, a marketplace can work.

The questions this phase answers

  • Where are Ethiopian customers?
  • Where are Ethiopian businesses?
  • What do people want to buy?
  • What do businesses want to sell?
  • What problems do businesses have?
  • Which categories matter most?
  • Which cities have the strongest demand?
  • Which cities have enough supply?
  • What should we build first?

What comes next

Planned phases, no promised dates.

Each phase is decided by what the previous one teaches us. Nothing below is a commitment to a feature or a timeline; it is the direction we are building toward.

  1. Phase 2

Marketplace MVP, shaped by waitlist data

    • Business profiles
    • Product and restaurant listings
    • Search, categories and location discovery
    • Reviews
    • Merchant onboarding
  2. Phase 3

    Transactions

    • Ordering and shopping
    • Payments
    • Pickup and delivery
    • Reservations and catering
  3. Phase 4

    Global expansion

    • More countries, cities and categories
    • Merchant tools
    • Creator tools

How we work

Six principles we hold ourselves to.

  • Built with the community

Founding members, businesses and creators shape categories, features and city priorities. EthioBazaar is being built with the community, not simply for it.

  • Global from day one

Nobody is excluded by geography. We do not guess which country or city comes first; where people sign up tells us where demand and supply already exist.

  • Honest numbers only

Every count on this site comes from the real waitlist. No invented users, businesses or cities, no fake scarcity, and no launch dates until we have them.

  • Shopping is a pillar, not a side feature

Local and online Ethiopian shops, groceries, fashion, coffee, handmade and cultural products sit at the centre of the plan, next to restaurants and services.

  • Recognition that stays honest

Founder numbers are permanent and never moved by referrals. They recognise when someone joined; they are not verification and never mean a business is endorsed.

  • Your data and content stay yours

Answers are used for research and to shape the marketplace, never sold. Menus, recipes and videos remain yours; any commercial use needs a separate agreement.
